My Journey
A path shaped by cultures, systems, and the search for belonging.
Arriving in Canada
Ivan Pak was born in Shanghai and grew up in Hong Kong before continuing his education in the United Kingdom. In 1996, he immigrated to Canada with his family — a transition that would shape his perspective on identity, culture, and belonging.
Growing Across Systems
Growing up across different systems and societies, Ivan developed an early awareness of how institutions, language, and cultural narratives influence individual lives. Canada, with its democratic values and diversity, became not just a place to live — but a place to understand.
Business & Technology
Professionally, Ivan has spent much of his career in business and technology, working on innovation, digital transformation, and retail systems across Canada and internationally. However, his engagement has not been limited to business.
Civic Engagement
Over time, Ivan became increasingly involved in community and civic life, particularly within the Chinese Canadian community. This involvement deepened his understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing immigrant communities in Canada.
Deeper Questions
This journey has led him to reflect deeply on what it means to be Canadian, on community unity and diversity, and on the importance of responsible public discourse in a democratic society.
